  • Project Description
Adelaide Pressed Metal worked closely with the client on the return verandah awning to resolve some asthetic issues lining the verandah while acknowleging the heritage fabric of this century year old building. The verandah covering the front & wrapping around the side of the building into Gresham Street was originally clad in Wunderlich lining 1150 which is no longer in production. Wall lining 1150 was removed & replaced over time with the panel design St George which was chosen by the buildings owner. St George design was not the correct style or pattern to fit the curve of the verandah & the panel puckered & looked ill fitted creating an unpleasing finish. Adelaide Pressed Metal worked with the new owners to choose a design that would be in keeping with the age of the building while also creating a pleasing asthetic to the verandah lining without puckering & producing a proffessional finish. The new design chosen was Corinthian, a smaller version of Acanthus design found on the ceiling in the original building. The Adelaide Pressed Metal team worked with the builder & carpenters to structurally soften the original curve of the verandah to create a double hip join on the corner of Hindley Street & Gresham Street so that the pressed metal panels could be installed seamlessly. Original 4'' Egg & Dart Cornice installed on the verandah was removed & saved, restored & reinstated & damaged rusted lengths that were beyond repair were replaced with new 4'' Egg & Dart aluminium cornice which matched seamlessly as the Adelaide Pressed Metal product is an exact match for original material.
